Legal Counsel: Regulatory Implementation

  • The Regulatory Implementation Legal team provides expert legal advice to BUK on the identification, assessment and implementation of regulatory change impacting BUK. It forms part of the broader legal team supporting the Barclays 360 business which is responsible for Digital Banking, Channels (Virtual and Branch network) Remediation and Advocacy.
  • The in-house post holder will play a key role in BUK and Group wide strategic initiatives, with access and exposure to senior stakeholders, with responsibility for: Co-ordinating and providing legal advice and support for BUK on legal and regulatory changes impacting BUK and ensuring BUK effectively manages its cross-border risk and actively contributing to the wider BUK Legal Team and helping to deliver team and departmental objectives under the direction of the BUK General Counsel and Legal Leadership Team.
  • Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, day-to-day co-ordination and leadership of legal risk management of Regulatory change and implementation within BUK, such as Brexit; effectively managing the control environment stemming from Regulatory change implementation (e.g. ensuring BUK does not breach the regulatory perimeter in other jurisdictions) and ensuring a co-ordinated, pro-active and efficient response from BUK Legal throughout the BUK Regulatory Change Lifecycle, including cross-border advice where required.
  • You will have proven technical expertise and skills in EU financial markets and regulation, with a particular focus on retail products.
  • You will have significant experience in supporting delivery of regulatory change and developments, including identification of upcoming proposals, analysis of business impacts and engagement in implementation activities.
