  • About the Firm: The Bank of England is the UK's central bank. Our mission is to deliver monetary and financial stability for the British people.
  • About the role: This is a permanent in-house Legal Counsel role and you will report to a Senior Legal Counsel & Manager or Deputy Head of Legal within the Financial Stability Division.
  • Looking For: We are looking to secure your experience of financial regulation, banking, corporate/M&A, capital markets or insolvency law; complemented by your good basic understanding of public and EU law issues; excellent legal analytical and drafting skills; and excellent legal risk awareness and evaluation skills, including an ability to assist with creating solutions and delivering pragmatic outcome-focussed judgements that take account of the business environment.
  • Opportunities: The opportunities afforded to you will include but not be limited to, providing day-to-day advice to the supervision team which regulate FMIs on the Bank’s powers and responsibilities under UK and EU legislation and advising on the development of policy in respect of the regulation of FMIs.
  • And more: The role involves providing excellent legal advice to business areas including the Financial Market Infrastructure Directorate, the Financial Stability Strategy and Risk Directorate, the Resolution Directorate, the Prudential Policy Directorate and the International Directorate and making a broader contribution to the life of the Division, LD and the wider Bank.
