  • About the Firm: The Ministry of Justice is a ministerial department of the British Government headed by the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor.
  • About the Role: This is an exciting high-profile in-house role for a lawyer based in the Criminal Team responsible for advising all of the senior judges with responsibilities in crime, including the Lord Chief Justice, President of the Queen’s Bench Division, Vice President Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) and the Senior Presiding Judge.
  • Looking for: Among your many attributes, we are looking to secure your ability to provide high quality legal advice (both written and oral) which fits into the wider policy and operational context, with no formal legal supervision.
  • Opportunities: You will be afforded the opportunity to provide high quality legal, strategic and policy advice to the senior judiciary regarding their administrative responsibilities in criminal justice, working with colleagues across the Judicial Office to ensure that all the relevant issues are addressed.
  • And more: While some flexible working can be accommodated, this job can require long hours on occasion, and early starts or late finishes, in order to accommodate meetings around judges' court commitments.
