AVP, Assistant General Counsel

  • About the Firm: GIC Private Limited, formerly known as Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, is a sovereign wealth fund established by the Government of Singapore in 1981 to manage Singapore's foreign reserves.
  • About the role: We are looking for a highly motivated, high calibre corporate/M&A lawyer to join our In-house Legal Division in London to partner investment professionals in the GIC Real Estate group in their investment activities.
  • Looking For: We are looking to secure your strong academic results from a good university, between 4 to 7 years' post qualification experience as a corporate/M&A lawyer (whether in private practice or in-house). Furthermore, relevant legal experience in relation to real estate, infrastructure, private equity matters and/or debt financing will be an advantage.
  • Opportunities: The opportunities afforded to you will include, but not be limited to, identifying key legal and reputational risks in transactions arising from investment activities, recommend and implement solutions.; and liaising and consulting with top international and local law firms on a variety of legal matters to support investment activities, with a view to delivering superior services on a cost-effective basis.
  • And more: You will possess an analytical mind, be intellectually curious, with a good knowledge of commercial law, and are able to identify legal risks and propose solutions in the context of the business’ interest; and have good negotiating skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to effectively represent GIC in dealings with our counterparties and LCD with internal parties.
