  • About the role: This in-house post provides legal advice to support the Justice Select Committee across its work. The post-holder will report to the Clerk of the Committee and will be a part of both the Committee team and the Office of Speaker’s Counsel.
  • Looking For: Among your many skills, we are looking to secure your significant experience of legal practice or postgraduate academic legal experience; your good general knowledge of the law of England and Wales, with a particular understanding and knowledge of constitutional and administrative law and the workings of the justice system.; and your strong powers of analysis, including the ability to assimilate a wide range of information and reach sound judgments under pressure.
  • Opportunities: The opportunities afforded to you will include but not be limited to providing legal advice to members and staff of the Justice Select Committee, including in particular advice relating to the Court Service and the judiciary; and reading and commenting on all reports of the Justice Select Committee to ensure that they are legally sound.
