Route1 launches innovative charity referral fee offering in the UK
Over the past nine months, we have been busy building a candidate community to include over 6000+ lawyers and paralegals. That’s 30% of our target market in the UK. This number is growing by an additional 300 new candidates a week as we provide them with meaningful career content and relevant job matches. We expect to be 10,000 strong by the end of March.
Having established the largest engaged community of lawyer and paralegal candidates in the UK, we now feel it is time to show further thought leadership by introducing a charitable initiative.
Traditional recruiters reward lawyers in cash for referring their friends and colleagues for jobs. They use fees paid by your firm to do so. We want to change this referral dynamic. So in the first three months of 2017, each new candidate that finds a job on Route1 after referral by an existing user, will result in a £1000 donation to the British Red Cross, War Child UK & Samaritan’s Purse.
Why are we doing this?
Because the cost savings we realise as an innovative disruptor of the inefficient and costly legacy recruitment market enable this. And it helps challenge the assumption that people will “trade” personal relationships for gain rather than for the benefit of friends and colleagues. This may be the recruiters’ approach, but we do not believe it is necessarily the right approach for candidates or for employers. We are trying to reshape the relationships and assumptions made around legal recruitment and build trust in the process.
Is there a charity you would like to nominate to be supported by this initiative?
If so, please let us know about it! We intend to expand this list to other charities nominated by polling our employer and candidate community. Let us know your nominations now via the contact page.
