Route1 is the fastest growing marketplace for lawyers, where candidates match anonymously and directly with job opportunities. We are pleased to announce a series of functional upgrades to our legal recruitment platform – Route1 2.0, if you like!
Following a year-long product trial, where we grew our user base to 8500 and made a series of hires for both in-house and law firm clients, we paused to gather user feedback earlier this Spring. As a result of that feedback, we have been busy in development over the summer, and in early September 2018 we launched a series of new functions on our upgraded platform.
Our new Route1 enhancements comprise:
Our job match algorithms have been redesigned to be “flatter” and to use more refined practice area lists. Coupled with job descriptions that are now optimised to interact better with candidate profiles, we ensure a greater number of relevant matches for candidates. In addition, candidates can also now choose more than one practice area when setting out their preferences.
Enhanced Application Process
Candidates can now upload and store multiple CVs and backup data on our encrypted secure storage area. This enables candidates to apply for roles with all the necessary and relevant information as soon as they match, putting them ahead of other candidates using traditional recruitment agents.
Traditional recruitment has relied on the recruiter having the balance of power over a candidate when it comes to information. This is how they protect their business model. Route1 is a candidate focused platform, where we believe candidates should have all available information in order to make an informed decision at point of application. This includes a content partnership with Lexology, where we have built an API that enables us to collate articles from over 300 leading law firms and place them alongside our clients’ job specifications.
We intend to work closely with our clients going forward to enable us to update other content from them in real time, to ensure we are always serving them, and their potential employees, with up to the minute content that is relevant to the hiring decision.
Candidates and employers have pointed out to us that we lacked a human interface to manage applications. We have therefore identified a number of forward-thinking individuals with recruitment backgrounds to manage our user engagement. The first of these is Ben Daniels, who joined Route1 as our new Head of Engagement in August. Ben has been in the legal recruitment field for seven years and works alongside the existing team to answer queries from candidates and employers on the Route1 hiring process, and he will shortly be joined by other team members.
Privacy regulation and technology are fundamentally changing the way recruitment is undertaken. The GDPR is changing the way many business processes are undertaken and Route1 are leading this change in professional recruitment. Candidates now have far more control over their personal data, and a Route1 user always controls how and when he or she interacts with a job specification via a direct, non-agency driven process. Route1 is GDPR compliant by design.
In comparison, traditional recruiters cannot solicit candidates without having to obtain the appropriate GDPR consents on a regular basis. But now almost all job advertisements are publicly available, with most employers using alternative channels to avoid high intermediary fees, and candidates and employers are asking whether there is still a need to give these intermediaries consent. By putting the candidate at the heart of the business model, Route1 is the solution to this problem.
Help us to change the way legal recruitment is done for the better, for ever!
