At Route1, we use technology to introduce transparency, integrity and efficiency to legal recruiting. We also want to change the ethical perceptions that can surround recruitment. In 2017, we decided to replace cash referral fees when a referred candidate was successfully placed into a job on Route1. We have now decided to extend this charitable element to every associate hire we facilitate using our platform’s cost savings. This way we can effect positive ethical practice in the recruitment process, delivering £500 to War Child UK – our chosen charity partner – and £500 to the hiring employer’s charity of choice, upon every successful associate hire. War Child UK is a specialist charity supporting children to recover from the trauma of conflict, providing protection and education to vulnerable children caught in war.
In doing this we also hope to change the referral dynamic that assumes people will “trade” their friends and colleagues for monetary gain. We want our candidates to make their next career move via Route1 feeling that they are making an immediate and tangible contribution to their new employer’s charity of choice and CSR policy, as they walk through its doors.
